Care for your refinished bathtub, shower, or tile surface
Your bathtub or bath fixture has just been refinished with the finest product in tub and tile resurfacing used today!
24 Hours after the surface is refinished- Removing the masking tape- It is likely that there will be leftover masking paper and tape to remove. It is very important that you remove any tape up and away from the surface at a 45 degree angle. If you notice paint starting to lift STOP! Get a razor blade and carefully cut the paint to tape bond so the surface does not continue to lift. This rarely happens if the tape is pulled properly, but be aware and prepared in case it does happen. Caulking immediately after removing the tape is recommended.
Be very careful- Your new surface, while dry and usable, will be soft for the next two weeks. During this time be extra careful with any objects being used to finish your tub resurfacing job or while using the new surface. This includes metal caulk gun handles, overflow drain parts and tools used to install, razor blades needed to cut any paint to tape bond that occurs, shaving razors, shower heads on a hose, squeegees, shampoo bottles, etc etc . Do not risk it. Lay a towel down around your work area. The cost for us to come fix any damage starts at $189.00. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
Laying tape down in an effort to get the perfect caulk line is not allowed until after a two week cure period has passed. Please wait to caulk for two weeks if you must use this method. Again, in two weeks your surface will be fully cured and the tape/caulk method should not have any negative impacts.
Do Not Pick At 'DUST NUBS' Do not pick at any bumps in the new surface. We refer to these as 'dust nubs'. These are unavoidable and some refinish jobs will have more than others. It is the nature of spraying in an uncontrolled environment. These usually get knocked down after the first few cleanings. Again, please do not pick them. The cost for us to repair areas where dust nubs have been picked at starts at $189.00
To maintain the beauty of your tub surface:
As with a new bathtub remove excess water and wipe dry after each use
Always be sure faucets are tightly closed and the shower pipe is drained after each use.
DO NOT rest any soap bottles, spray cans, or wet clothes on the surface for long periods of time
NEVER use hair dye in a refinished bathtub
If bathing pets in the bathtub, always put a towel down to prevent scratches
If you do not have a non-slip surface applied the surface will be slippery! You can use a NON-Suctioned bath mat or a towel. It must be picked up after each use. Do not hang the mat or towel over the bathtub. Use of a suctioned bath mat or stick-on strips will cause failures.
Even though the bathtub does not look dirty, it should be cleaned at least once a week with a liquid non-abrasive cleaner such as Scrubbing Bubbles (recommended), 409 (no-bleach formula), or Fantastic. You can even use some dish soap and a terry cloth towel. Please make sure your cleaners have no bleach in them.
NEVER USE abrasive cleaners such as Ajax, Comet, or Soft Scrub on the refinished surface. If non-slip protection is applied on the bottom of the bathtub, you can use Soft Scrub on that area as needed.
Remember: if you treat your new surface with respect, clean it regularly and keep your taps dry, your tub will stay shiny and bright for many years.
